indescribable, undefinable love

This is the first song when a Nashville publisher gave me a contract

https://www.mixcloud.com/ElvisNash/indescribable-undefinable-love/

Our love is an unstoppable fire burning between your heart and mine, a storybook feeling.

Giving wings to verse and rhyme.

From that first look I saw a smile on your face telling me that thay has to be fate.

But love is so hard to explain.

Like the sun when it shines through the rain.

It's indescribable, undefinable love.

our love is two touching of souls.

Heart's beating fast, out of control. Into the flame, no yesterday's in the way.

From that first kiss came an innocent touch. A shimmering light shining on us.

But love is so hard to describe.

But I know when I look in your eyes, it's indescribable, undefinable love.

And you put it all in motion.

It was you making all of my dreams so real.

our love is a sunset at sea. While holding you tight, I've learned to believe.

All this devotion sealed on a night like this.

From that first day, I knew in my heart.

To the last day, this love will stay strong. But love is so hard to define.

But I thank the Lord that you're mine.

It's indescribable, undefinable love.

It's indescribable, undefinable love.

Sweet love.

WOW... you had a Nashville publisher give you a contract??

What was the contract for? To write songs?

Did any of them find their way into the hands of any "stars"?

This one doesn't sound like a Nashville staple.

Sounds like something Nat King Cole, or Sinatra would sing... maybe.

  • Only with Indy publishers , the payouts come from major publishers and major artists
  • Arts_Tunes
    Arts_Tunes Atlanta, GA, USA

I can kind of hear John Michael Montgomery doing this (just discovered his music lately).

  • He was big back in the day
Some girl cut it as a Indy , I made a few bucks
  • Well you're doing better than most of us then! Congratulations on the cut - even if it was a long time back.

Not actually my favorite of yours, but obviously someone liked it! That's very cool.

  • its better done by a girl . Haley was her name , I think she's out of it now , In Washington or somewhere , She has a great voice

  • MoraAmaroLaLoba
    MoraAmaroLaLoba Madrid (Spain)

I really liked this song, at least for me it's common for us to hear you in this romantic mood. Beautiful love song, soft, sweet and dedicated. The voice so nuanced, sifted... like that of a lover.

    World needs more love songs!!!

    @ElvisNash

  • its a 25 year old song when I had dreams of making big money on being a big songwriter , I'm a total failure now at 71 years old

  • MoraAmaroLaLoba
    MoraAmaroLaLoba Madrid (Spain)

I don't think you're a failure; on the contrary, I see that you're a great singer-songwriter, an eternal fighter, and that makes you a giant. Although I think you measure your things by money... it's normal, but even so, you'll never be what you say. I think you take pleasure in hurting yourself by thinking like that.

  • Take pleasure in that, No I don't , its reality, Money is everything in this world

  • MoraAmaroLaLoba
    MoraAmaroLaLoba Madrid (Spain)

    Qué pena! Pensar así!

  • What a shame! To think like that! , its reality

Don’t think too much about the money. I once had a cut with someone semi-well known — I even wrote a brand new song for it, it got professionally produced and released everywhere. In the end it was a total sales disaster, and the album was eventually sold off for a few bucks in supermarkets.

But honestly, I still enjoyed being part of it and getting to experience the whole process. That part stays with me.

And fun fact: we all had sales participation… except the drummer. He was the only one who actually made money off the album!

If you work 30 years studying the craft of songwriting , You expect a pay off

But it was not in the cards for me

I feel half Human today after 4 months of depression , So I'll plan to go to the studio and do a guitar vocal

Well if I committed suicide I'd miss sex and eating a steak , its kinda a waste of money buying a gun and only using it once

Lotta planning in that , Who's going to feed the dog ?

So wait to die in my sleep watching Bill Burr

  • I hear you. The truth is, things used to work very differently — publishers and labels would actively look for outside songs. Today there are billions of songs out there, and only 40 spots in the Top 40.
Without being an artist yourself or knowing artists personally, breaking through is almost impossible.

That’s why I think the best approach is to write for the sake of writing — not with expectations, but because it gives you joy and strength. That way it stays self-determined, and whatever happens beyond that is just a bonus
  • Yup thats how it used to work , Billions of songs and 40 spots , Add the trillion AI songs , Your out of luck

  • Could be an opportunity to try for songs you love now, rather than trying to hit the market. Try to find the joy in it again.

  • Wow, this is a whole new side to you, and I love it. Tom mentioned Nat King Cole, and that's what I was thinking too. I agree, it would be even better with a female vocalist, but this version is really good too. I raise my trilby to you. Do you have any more songs of this kind?

Sorry that you seem to be so down on yourself. For what it's worth - and that would be $0 - I always look forward to listening to your songs here. You have unique style that always stands out from the crowd.

Not really in that style , I'll force myself to go to studio next week , Cut a Guitar vocal , save on costs , No full demo . Dminor , kinda a blues country rock thing

I got a buddy stuck to leather staring back at me

He's got a chipped white robe and a cracked left knee

Bouncing with the rhythm as I hit the gas

A holy little passenger who's built to last

    [Verse 2]

The highway hums like a choir gone wild

    Dusty winds blowing

    Reckless a crazy ride

The devil trys to get to me

    But he can't compete

A six inch high savior in Texas heat

    [Chorus]

    With my dashboard Jesus

    Keep me in line

Through the red lights and the borderline

When the road gets rough and my faith loses it's bling

You're my plastic prophet through the thick and thin

    [Verse 3]

    Cigarette smoke curling

    Halo in disguise

His eyes don't blink but they see through lies

Preacher on the radio preaching doom

But the way I see it's not happening soon

    [Chorus]

    With my dashboard Jesus

    Keep me in line

Through the red lights and the borderline

When the road gets rough and my faith loses it's bling

You're my plastic prophet through the thick and thin

    [Bridge]

    He's got a few miracles

    Without the parlor tricks

That steady gaze through the windshield's fix

A bobblehead blessing with a crooked smile

    [Chorus]

    With my dashboard Jesus

    Keep me in line

Through the red lights and the borderline

When the road gets rough and my faith loses it's bling

    With my Dashboard

    With my dashboard Jesus

  • It's burnt in my logic after 40 years at this to write a commercial song . But I will not try to hit market anymore , its a waste of time , its super depressing , I didn't fail the damn music industry did

Nicky V in Nashville got the track done , All I got to do is sing it in the studio

Nicky V is a firm believer AI will never replace him , Well thats good he just had a baby, Same deal with me , Your either supporting robots or humans , make your choice

    https://www.mixcloud.com/ElvisNash/dashboard-jesus/

Why don’t robots trust humans with secrets?

    Because they always “leak.”

  • MoraAmaroLaLoba
    MoraAmaroLaLoba Madrid (Spain)

Ai always scares me, although in many cases it helps by making it easier to try this style or that to fix a song... Whether you like it or not, it feeds on us... and eats and eats and eats us.

  • What scares me is dentures flying out and killing the studio engineer singing this Jesus song , well robots have no sense of humor
  • Now there's a strong visual!!

  • ha ha ha

Thinking about it and given that I am a very practical woman, I would take those teeth and use them as a capo for the guitar. @RainyDayMan @ElvisNash

  • I hate these things , if I was rich I've have implants
