lyrics SS : music/vocals Ai

Another track off my last album, "No Sid".

[verse 1]

There's a steady stream, of wannabes,

they come an' go, throughout my life.

Till one day, reality dawns an' they see,

no point, hitchin' their wagon to me.

[verse 2]

She's got Ruby lips, an' long blonde hair,

so did the one, that came before her.

No interest in me, just take all they can.

another blow-up doll, I no longer care.

[chorus]

Well it feels, like one door opens,

an' another, window closes.

It all happens, without a sound,

love's, a wonderful merry-go-round.

[verse 3]

Ever since ya left, never had an empty bed,

There ain't no denyin', ya got in ma head.

Life's endless flow now, of naked nobodys,

doin' the same thing, not sayin' what ya said.

[verse 4]

Another pair of legs, go through the door,

dreams of bein' someone, on the floor.

Put my copy Rolex, in her fake Gucci bag,

pornbroker offers 20 bucks, no more.

[chorus]

Well it feels, like one door opens,

an' another, window closes.

It all happens, without a sound,

love's, a wonderful merry-go-round.

[bridge]

The game's shallow, love plays no part.

everyone trades somethin', costs nothin'.

People are usin' people, becomin' an art.

sell ya self-respect, that's the beginin'.

[final chorus]

Well it feels, like one door opens,

an' another, window closes.

It all happens, without a sound,

love's, a wonderful merry-go-round.

[outro]

Started, all starry-eyed,

keep your dignity intact.

lasted, till the rent came due.

now you're lookin', at the facts.

  • Well that's a cynical, world weary one! But it's definitely got an attitude.

The copy Rolex / fake Gucci is a nice touch. Really shows them both faking it in a very visual concrete way.

And "lasted, till the rent came due" is a nice abrupt end to being starry-eyed as well.

Not sure it's a song I enjoy, but it's well constructed and cohesive and the personality of the narrator colors everything.

    @RainyDayMan

"Not sure it's a song I enjoy," interesting point, can we really say we enjoy some songs, e.g. "Hurt/Cash, Monsters/Blunt, Tears in Heaven/Clapton. I know I like them and I play them a lot, but do I enjoy them, that's a really good question!

I prefer songs that make you think and feel something, I leave the foot-tappers to others.

Nice constructive contribution, appreciated as always.

It's a story as common as the stones in the road, but aside from the cynicism and lightheartedness with which we count the legs that cross the door, there's a love that did keep the only thing of value: your heart. Sounds great

  • @sidshovel - I like how you use words to convey meaning. it's profound. There are some people that are simply users. You fulfill a need, then once that need is done, you're of no use and they move on. Sid is a realist; he sees the world as it is.

Thank you Bill, Mora, appreciate your insightful comments. My songs tend towards the theatrical, inviting the listener to engage in the scenes, instilling their own experiences/feelings into what they hear. Whether you come away with thoughts of cynicism or realism, they are at least personal and equally valid. That you react to it, is enough.

Thank you for taking the time to listen and comment.
