Casey's Heart

Haven't written, posted or commented on anything in years, I discovered Suno recently and had a background track whipped up. The vocal is mine, but I think the Suno guy may have sung it better, lol.

Curious if this one makes sense without the having to explain it. It was one of the last songs that my Mom and I worked on together before she passed.

Lyrics and Melody (C) Danny Bloodworth, Sara Bloodworth

Verse 1

I know we’ve never met

But I hope you’ll read this letter

It’s about my little girl

She’s finally feeling better

There were many sleepless nights

When we thought that we’d lost Hope

Then fate stepped in that night

And I wanted you to know....

Chorus 1

Casey’s heart is beating strong, with a will to carry on

There’s no way to thank you enough

Casey’s heart is filled with love, every day it lifts us up

Just know that you will always be a part...Of Casey’s heart

Verse 2

Hospital rooms...miles apart

Two families praying in the dark

A quiet choice no one could see

Your letting go, gave Hope back to me

Chorus 2

Casey’s heart is beating strong, with a will to carry on

There’s no way to thank you enough

Casey’s heart is filled with love, every day it lifts us up

Just know that you will always be a part...Of Casey’s heart

Bridge (The Reveal)

They won't tell me anything

About the boy who saved Hope's life

Just that his name was Casey

And he was eighteen...when he died

Final Chorus

Casey’s heart is beating strong

And somehow it still goes on

There’s no way to thank you enough

Casey’s heart is filled with grace

It lives in Hope, it keeps her safe

Just know that you will always be a part...

Of Casey’s heart

You'll forever be... a part...

Of Casey’s heart

Welcome Danny, glad to have you aboard.

Absolutely a beautiful song, well written indeed. Clever composition using the term/name hope, liked that a lot.

I like, "all will be revealed songs" they're clever and witty and I enjoy them.

Testament to how good the lyrics are, I started to write a comment before I realised, I hadn't played the song.

Reading the lyrics, I could hear the music in my head, the words flowed so sweetly.

Caught a bit of another one of your songs on Soundclick an' that also sounded good so I'll nip back and check out your other works.

Thanks again Danny, joy to listen to.

  • @dbloodworth - damn, bubba, you got's some pipes. not a fan of country, but this rocks. love how the ending fades out..

  • Mr Bloodworth! What an absolute pleasure to see you posting something again! Very sorry to hear about your mom, what a lovely lady she was.

This is beautiful. I think it's clear. Heart transplant from Casey to Hope.

The initial use of Hope "When we thought that we’d lost Hope" will be ambiguous if heard without the lyric in front of you - and I'm guessing that's quite deliberate- and then resolves as you go.

I think the only part that could cause confusion is "you will always be a part...Of Casey’s heart". I read that as speaking to Casey's parents.

It's touching and warm, and set to good music. A lovely song.

@sidshovel - thank you! I definitely appreciate the comments and the listen. I'm a fan of big reveals too, but I don't hear a lot of songs like that these days.

@bhengen - Thank you - appreciate the listen.

@RainyDayMan - Yeah, Mom was something special - miss her every day. As for your critique, I never questioned that line until now - but I see your point. I guess the idea was that Hope's dad wanted Casey's mom and dad to know that a part of him was still with them. I'll keep mulling it over.

The song idea came from an episode of 20/20 where a donor's brother ended up dating the young lady who received an organ. From what I gathered from the show - they don't disclose the donor to the recipient, but they'll deliver a single letter if you want to send one.

I'll be checking out some of the other stuff soon. Good to be back here.
