  • [Verse]

One look and I was smitten

    I was mesmerized by her.

She held me in her power.

I couldn’t look away from her.

    [Pre chorus]

I had never known such beauty.

    Felt skin so satin smooth.

When I kissed her lips so tender

Gazed in those eyes so blue.

    [Chorus]

    My soul was lost forever.

    Too late I realized.

    Love would bring me misery.

    The devil has blue eyes.

    [Verse]

One night and I was spellbound.

    I was hypnotized by her.

She loved me with such passion.

    That my logic became blurred.

    [Pre chorus]

I had never known such beauty.

    Felt skin so satin smooth.

When I kissed her lips so tender

Gazed in those eyes so blue.

    [Chorus]

    My soul was lost forever.

    Too late I realized.

That love would bring me heartache.

    The devil has blue eyes.

    [harmonica solo]

    [Bridge]

I sought comfort in a bottle

    Only made things worse.

    I learned beauty is deceiving.

    Misery deserved.

    [verse]

One look and I was smitten .

    I was mesmerized by her.

She held me in her power.

I couldn’t look away from her.

    [pre chorus]

I had never known such beauty.

    Felt skin so satin smooth.

    When I kissed those lips so tender;

gazed in those eyes so blue.

    [chorus]

    My soul was lost forever;

    too late I realized.

    The devil has blue eyes.

    [tag]

    The devil, oh the devil;

    the devil has blue eyes.

Cool sound Carroll! Very smooth and polished.

You might experiment with repeating "the devil" in the chorus, as in "The devil, the devil has blue eyes."

  • Finally got Suno to do a harmonica solo!
  • Very good song Carrol

  • Thanks!
  • @carroll yeah, cool song; lyrically and musically. Also, love the SUNO photo, kitty with blue eyes. Grabbed myself a copy!

Oh, to be able to sing like SUNO! Lol!

Loved the lyric. Couldn't figure out how to play it.

  • Great sound, which I guess is to be expected 😀. It's a well-worn subject, but the hook is effective, and good use of assonance in places:

    Felt skin so satin smooth.

When I kissed her lips so tender

Good song, Carroll! Glad you got that harmonica solo in there.

Nice song Carroll, well written as usual, might consider dropping off some surplus pronouns to get a better feel to the vibe.
