Reach Lyrics

I fell asleep at the wheel
This life you let them steal
What a lack of appeal
You're true intentions will revail

Prevail

I will
I listen
I let God make my decisions
This helps clear up indecision
I dont use sex as a weapon

I'm free
I'm me
I dont need you to love me
I dont need money or greed

God's got my back
Will save me from this attack
He watches me and cuts me slack

So be free with your speech
They never manipulate a real teach
I was told I've always known to preach

This time you can reach
I'm done with crumbs
This time you can reach

  • This one jumps around a lot Kayla. For example you start with falling asleep at the wheel, but that doesn't seem to connect with any of the latter verses. Then "I don't use sex as a weapon" pops up out of nowhere, and I'm asking myself why is that relevant? If there's a thread connecting all these it's not coming through in the lyric.

I like the "I'm free, I'm me" section. That feels like it should sing well, and has a good vibe.

My suggestion is to decide what the song is about. Pick a phrase that summarizes the whole song. Then put that smack into your chorus. Then use your verses to fill out the details. Early verses set up a context and paint a picture. Ending verses tell about consequences and how things pan out. Not every song works this way of course, but it might be helpful here.

@Kayla813 I agree with RDM. You have talent, you just need to learn how to use it better. Follow RDM's advice and instruction above and you will soon be a ROCK STAR!! For example, RDM and another member critiqued a recent song I posted. I rewrote the lyric based upon their feedback. And BAM!! A MUCH better song!! 😊

  • You need a stronger story line . I'm afraid every line is disjointed and does not follow a pattern to pay off what's this song is supposed to be about

  • I could be wrong, but to me the lyrics represent someone who allowed themselves to be manipulated, but found strength in god. now she lets god speak for her.

so whatever abusive or dismissive language you throw at her, she turns to god for comfort.

my only issue with the song is the word revail, I think she meant reveal to continue with the rhyming pattern, or, she took the words reveal and prevail and combined them.

    this verse -

So be free with your speech

They never manipulate a real teach

I was told I've always known to preach

essentially words have no effect on her, and whatever you words you throw at her, she'll reply 10 fold, in other words ,you can't out bully a bully ;)

Again, i could be reading more into the lyrics. but to me, it's about a person that's been abused, and is tired and speaking out.
