Come What May

My take on 'in spite of it all' I guess. I believe this lyric may have come along the way it did due to something @ElvisNash stated yesterday in the comments of the song I posted. Funny how that happens. Where else might I have gone lyrically? Thank you for any feedback, suggestions.

COME WHAT MAY

V1

Sometimes I feel so sad

I don’t wanna talk to anyone

And sometimes I feel so bad

For everyone I know

Because nobody I know

Is doing very well

Tired, sick and broke

In our own living hells

[Chorus]

Life is never what you expect it be

Your broken heart breaks you down eventually

So, we do the best we can living day to day

Come what might, come what may

V2

And the Commies have been coming

From the very get-go

The agenda is as old as Cain and Abel

They want us dead, by now you know

[Chorus]

Life is never what you expect it be

Your broken heart breaks you down eventually

So, we do the best we can living day to day

Come what might, come what may

V3

And it takes a lot to get me excited

Having been let down so many times

High hopes don’t serve me well

So, I try, try to take things in stride, ‘cuz

[Chorus]

Life is never what you expect it be

Your broken heart breaks you down eventually

So, we do the best we can living day to day

Come what might, come what may

[Music]

[Bridge]

Come what might

Come what may

Come what might

A better way

Come what might

Come what may

Come what might

A brighter day

[Chorus]

Life is never what you expect it be

Your broken heart breaks you down eventually

So, we do the best we can living day to day

Come what might, come what may, yeh—yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah

  • @HummerWisdom - very relatable lyrics. Honestly you can drop verse 2 as it neither add or detracts from the song. Other than that, they emote well.

  • @bhengen awh, not my favorite verse! Just kidding. Thank you for your honest assessment.

You were doing fine till v2 and injecting your agenda
But it’s better than negative Nancy songs , it’s your job to lift up the world

@elvis Yeah, I could probably dump V2 but no, it's not my job to 'lift up the world'. Not all songs can be happy and uplifting; at least not the crap I write. But I am happier when they have some positive slant/outcome. Need to do more of that like this song. Thanks for the reminder.

  • The verse and the chorus have the same melody at that moment, and it would be better if they were different. That's a bit tricky when you're singing against a backing track, but to the extent that you can, I would try to separate them somehow.

I don't like the first half of verse 1. Sad / bad rhyme is too weak, and the use of everyone / anyone feels like a repeat to me, even though I know it isn't. But I do like the second half. That's got more punch to it.

I like the chorus, and that final line: "Come what might, come what may". Nice.

I think you might be able to do more with the Bridge. You might try something like:

    Come what might

Might have beens don't count for much

    Come what may

    Maybe there's a better way

    or something like that.

    Worth pursuing.

  • Thank you everyone for your feedback and suggestions. Will consider some of them!

Renee-I'm in the anomaly, I like V2. You have been uploading catchy tunes lately and I like it!

    Real talk. Real life!

Thanks for telling it is like it is....

    I enjoyed it!

@TammyB I knew who you were from the get-go'; like me. Thanks so much, Tammy for your support. I sort 'a like V2 as well but wonder if it might be too much. Let it stew some more.
