Brother Oh, Brother
Yet another attempt at writing a meaningful song for and about my estranged brother. Any suggestions are welcome. Lovely backing track by Erto Sound ==> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l8XtrSFL6k

BROTHER OH, BROTHER
[Intro/Music]
[Verse 1]
Don’t you remember running away from home together?
You were my rock in any kind of turbulent weather
We walked those desolate railroad tracks ‘til our legs gave out
As tough as growin’ up was, I’d go back there with you now
[Chorus]
Brother oh, Brother
Don’t you know how much I need you?
Brother oh, Brother
Don’t you know how much I miss you?
Bone of my bone
Blood of my blood
Brother oh, Brother
Don’t you know there’s no replacing you?
[Verse 2]
And I remember that summer you worked tobacco sun up to sundown
Handed over every penny you made to try and hold onto the house
Takin’ ‘em like a man, the lickings nobody did it better than you
Behind your hazel eyes you held your tears in solitude
Ooooh-ooooh, Ooooh-ooooh
Brother oh, Brother
Please tell me that we can set, set aside our differences
[Chorus]
Brother oh, Brother
Don’t you know how much I need you?
Brother oh, Brother
Don’t you know how much I love you?
Bone of my bone
Blood of my blood
Brother oh, Brother
Don’t you know there’s no replacing you?
[Bridge]
Bullet after bullet you took for me
Bullet after bullet you took for me
No purple heart could ever be enough to honor your courage and bravery
[Chorus]
Brother oh, Brother
Don’t you know how much I need you?
Brother oh, Brother
Don’t you know how much I love you?
Bone of my bone
Blood of my blood
Brother oh, Brother
Don’t you, don’t you know how much I’m missing you?
Oh, Brother..

@HummerWisdom - it's unfortunate you lost contact with him. direct and from the heart. well done :)

@bhengen thank you, Bill and yes, it is unfortunate because he is the only true blood I have left in this world as we were adopted as full-blown brother and sister. I have tried and tried again to write something that made sense; something that pretty much left me out of it and focused on my brother and how it was for him and who he was/is and what he means to me.
I appreciate you taking the time,

@HummerWisdom - not sure what caused the rift in the first place. keep writing, I'm sure he's reading them. when he's ready, he'll reach out to you.

@bhengen many things caused the 'rift' (what an unusual and cool word!) And no, he's not reading them because he doesn't do computers and any tech such as a smart phone. For that I don't fault him one bit. And there's always hope that someone Dale knows will tell him about the song. Thus, at least for now, the song receives top billing on my Sound Cloud 🙌

@HummerWisdom - silly me. I was thinking old school of actually writing a letter on paper and snail mailing it :).

@HummerWisdom Beautiful tribute to your brother. You can tell how much you love him. Keep the faith and he will find his way back to you.
Brothers are special, I only have one and I love him to death. He asked me to write him a song. After hearing yours, I'm seriously considering it. :-)
Thank you for sharing and I can't wait to hear more songs from you.

An absolutely beautiful song, that can only come from deep in the heart. I'll tell you something from experience Renee, don't wait, don't find excuses for yourself. If you know where he is then go, just say the words you've written directly to him. More than anything else, don't judge. Regrets are borne from worlds that no longer exist, reconcile any differences and create a new world with both of you in it. If you have any doubts, play your song!

@sidshovel thank you for the kind advice. Yes. This song I tried not to judge; that was one of my goals as it should be always,

There's nothing to improve here Renee, it's already wonderful.
You can hear the sincerity in every word. It's chock full of love and emotion.
I like little things like how you are rhyming tracks and back in verse 1, but mainly I love how you are singing the chorus, leaning into every word because it's so important to you.
Beautifully done. Now tell him.
