Still Here Lyrics

Last night I had the strangest dream
But before I did
I woke up at a time
They called cupid

Then the dream proceeded
Walking around the city
Like we did

Many times
I fell in love with the streets
Many times I fell in love
With the way you swept me off my feet

So when I woke
I saw your light
I held onto it
Without a fright

It then made my chest heavy
I miss you so much
It ain't even funny

The train didn't stop
At sullivan Square
Little did I know
They locked the doors
So I wouldn't appear

Little did I know, not 1
But two have died
I'm happy I'm still alive

So I can reminisce
A period of bliss
Of good lovers and friends
That God didn't let me miss

You'll always hold a big place
In my heart
We will never be apart
You guys are some of my
Best work of art
That's when I was beginning to be a star
Speaking of stars
I saw all 4 shooting ones
They were signs from my angels
That melted me like the sun

So Go on, you're life in heaven
Has just begun
I made my eggs on a bun
And reminisced when life was so much more private and fun

  • Kayla your lyrics are always chock full of emotion, and I suspect that's your priority.

Your structure is always fairly loose. That might work in a hip-hop or modern style, there's quite a bit of flexibility there, or it might not, I can't tell. My suggestion would be to start with a song you like and use it as a scaffold. Replace their words with your own, word for word, line for line, syllable for syllable. Put rhymes where they put rhymes. Repeat lines where they repeat lines. At the end you should have a lyric that you know can be set to music, cause in a way it already has been. Then forget about their music, I'm not suggesting you try to use theirs, just the structure.
