Niamh The Brave And Beautiful
TammyB posted a nice song about her daughter not long ago, which prompted me to dig out this one that I wrote for my own daughter, Niamh (it's pronounced Neev - it's a Gaelic name) when she left to work in Germany a couple of years ago. My aim was to have it ready to send to her by the time her plane landed. I succeeded, and, although the arrangement has undergone a little bit of polishing, it's still the same song.

NIAMH THE BRAVE & BEAUTIFUL
(Words & Music by Gavin Sinclair)
Often, I can't find the words to say what's in my heart
I guess I just assume that you must know
And only in a moment when it's time for us to part
Do I find a way to let my feelings show
And so we’ve come to today
Tomorrow you'll be far away
Time to let my heart speak and come right out and say
I love you
And you make me so proud
You're Niamh the Brave and Beautiful
A cup of life for you to fill
So much that's new to feel
It's time for you to go
I smile as I kiss you
But I already miss you
And I hope that this you
Already know
I guess I'm scared that the words will come out wrong
If I just look at you and speak 'em
So, I pour them from my heart into a song
When they don't seem right then I can tweak 'em
They're feeble and they're few
But I guess they'll have to do
Across the ocean I'm sending them to you
I love you
And you make me so proud
You're Niamh the Brave and Beautiful
A cup of life for you to fill
So much that's new to feel
And see and be
So much to tell me when
I have you back again
From over the sea
Time to let my heart speak and say the words out loud
I love you
And you make me so proud

@OnlyGavin A beautiful song from the bottom of a heart and a beer bottle, that's where you find the best ones.
The feelings came out both in the words and they way they were sung. The love and pride just poured out.
How good your daughter must feel to know she has a father back home who misses her so much.
Song to be proud of Gavin.

Just beautiful Gavin! A father's love and pride really shines through in this one.
And beautifully played too, loved the guitar, and the violin!
Something for her to treasure always.

Encore!
Emotional, heartfelt, and beautiful. Your daughter is a very lucky young lady. Bravo.
She will always have this song to pass down from generations.
You've done well, @OnlyGavin
The melody, guitar, and violin were breathtaking!
Thank you for sharing.

I'm not crying, you're crying.
Okay, maybe I teared up a little :) This is so sweet, Gavin. I can say that Niamh is very lucky to have you as a dad, and thank goodness you both have each other. Cherish that special connection throughout your lives!

Thanks @ElvisNash for giving it a spin.
@sidshovel That does tend to be where the best songs come from, although no beer bottle was involved with this one. And yes, she does love the song.

What a lovely song Gavin. The relationship that a dad has with his daughter is something really special. I know as I have a great relationship with my grown up daughter (and our son too).
I digress. This is sooo well put together. It's sung and played with real emotion. Well done.
Your lovely daughter should be proud of her old man!😀

Thanks @RainyDayMan. I agree that the violin fits very nicely in there.
@TammyB @BeatlesFan64 @ChrisPrice - thanks for the kind words. Glad that the feeling that went into the song came through 😊1
Howdy, Stranger!
