Shattered Glass, Broken Vows

SHATTERED GLASS, BROKEN VOWS
There's a gentle breeze brewing
And the pages have been torn
I watch them blow away
Could it be the calm before the storm
And all this talk about our love
Has it come to an end
The vase has fallen
And shattered like our friendship
Shattered glass, broken vows
Is there really such a difference
Can either be cured
Shattered glass, broken vows
At the end of the sentence
Can anyone be sure
There's a gentle breeze brewing
And the pages have been torn
I watch them blow away
Could it be the calm before the storm
Shattered glass, broken vows
Is there really such a difference
Can either be cured
Shattered glass, broken vows
At the end of the sentence
Can anyone be sure
Shattered glass, broken vows
Is there really such a difference
Can either be cured
Shattered glass, broken vows
At the end of the sentence
Can anyone be sure

Alright, I have no idea how to post direct links here. I'm still trying to figure this out.0

@bhengen Thanks, I'm still trying to figure out how to create a proper link.0

I like the melody and guitar solo. Good job.
I feel it was a little repetitive and needed more substance.
Divorce ughhhh..saying the word makes me sad.
Keep producing your art!

@TammyB I agree, it does get repetitive repeating the chorus. That was why I added the extra string part the last time I did the chorus, bit I don't think it added enough variation. The lyrics are not from personal experience. There was a storm building one day and I think my mother even said something about a storm building up. That gave me the idea for the first line and it built from there.

that's very creative. :) 😀

Copy and paste
I would mess with that on vocals
Gets a bit draggy with repeated lines
Good start0 -
I liked these lines:
The vase has fallen
And shattered like our friendship
And how that leads into Shattered glass, broken vows
It felt a bit cramped here: "Could it be the calm"
I'd try to vary the rhythm a bit more. I think you can get away with repeated lyrics if there's some variation and dynamics in the music.

I like how the solo was sort of bluesy, I didn’t really expect that given that it was more of a straightforward ballad otherwise. That was a really neat contrast. I like the chorus a lot actually, it didn’t feel repetitive to me. The verses to me weren’t quite as strong, just because sometimes the rhythms would be a bit off, and I didn’t feel the same sense of direction as with the chorus. I enjoyed it overall though. Glad this finally got to see the light of day!0

Thanks for all the listens and comments.
@ElvisNash I don't really mess around with PC recording. I have tried it, I just don't really enjoy it. I still use my Zoom R8 to record ans do minimal editing to the final mix with Audacity. Mostly trimming dead space and boosting the volume.
@RainyDayMan I agree with the rhythm. I'm still learning with the Digitech Trio+ and I did try to vary the rhythm a bit, but since I used a folk style on the drums, the variation isn't very noticeable.
@BeatlesFan64 I do tend to stay in that magic box when I solo, so I guess thats why it sounds bluesy. I do normally use more straightforward drums, but I decided to use folk patterns on this one and it does sound a little off at times, but I like it.

I like the lush strings effect from the keyboard. I'm afraid I have to agree that the chorus is a little repetitive.
I don't know that anyone would say that a gentle breeze is brewing. A storm brews, but not a breeze. How about, "There's a gentle breeze stirring?"
You could easily fix that awkward last line with something like this: "Is it the calm before the storm?"
Enjoyed it.

Pro Tools you mean ? Ok

All pros use Pro Tools . quite an investment really. This guy don't agree

@ElvisNash Recording on computer in general. I've never tried Pro Tools, but I have tried other recording programs and I just don't like recording on a computer and editing with software.

I feel ya , its a lot of work

I'm liking this. I'm finding the vocals a bit hard to follow at times. That's just a mix thing. I like the feel of the solo though it's a bit off key at times.
Elvis says: 'All pros use Pro Tools'..not so much the case these days imho.
I digress, a nice track. I really enjoyed listening.😀

@ChrisPrice Mixing my vocals has always been a struggle for me. Partially because I do not like my voice so I often keep it low in the mix, but also because I already know what the lyrics are so I understand them completely. This is why I say it's better to let someone else mix your songs, because they can hear whether the lyrics can be understood or not. As pro tools go, I think the pros pay someone else who uses pro tools or something similar. Most musicians are probably involved in the mixing process, but someone else does it for them. At my level, I feel like these recordings are basically just demos and don't need a full production. If I ever get famous, which I'm not expecting at my age, then the songs would be properly recorded and fully produced.

Pros use what they use , it takes skill and years learning it
