Ladies and gentlemen,

I'm interested in uploading my songs to SC. I would like to know if buying the Artist Pro is worth it? $119 per year. Should I go with the FREE version?

I would like to get my songs out to the broader audiences, and it seems like if you go Artist Pro you get promoted more from SC. I also like the way some of the artist in this forum music sounds when I listen to it on SC as opposed to YT and Suno.

Elvis is your man when it comes to promotion Tammy.

Personally, I don't promote anything, so I have very limited knowledge I'm afraid.

    Good luck

    Sid

I don't care for sound cloud , I would waste not 119 bucks on them. Them seem cheesy to me , just my take on them

I use them , For about 2 bucks you get some followers on each song

I think its 5 bucks a month to load songs in there

    Thank you, @sidshovel

Thank you, @ElvisNash - Will do. Nice/beautiful guitar playing. Love, love!

  • I use only the free version of Soundcloud, but for me that's a place to store and access a recording, not based on trying to reach an audience. I'm afraid I don't have any experience in how to promote your songs.

@RainyDayMan - Thank you. I will use the free version, too.

I like the sound of the songs when I hear them on SC.

You can use them , more pro than souncloud . They have promotion tools

How's that saying go ? You get what you pay for if you're lucky . Free means lack of quality

    @ElvisNash - I paid the $39/year for SC. :-)

Thank you and I will look into audiomack.

  • Well its just options , the key is a great song

  • The free version of SoundCloud is OK, but you can't replace sound files. So, if you upload something and get some feedback that persuades you to change something, you can't. You have to delete the track and upload it again, meaning it will have a different link and any stats related to the original are gone.

@OnlyGavin - Can I replace sound files with the Artist version? That's the one I bought.

I can replace that file a million times on their site

Free is you get what you pay for

If someone asked you for your service for FREE , You would not like it

  • I pay for Soundcloud Artist Pro, though I'm not entirely convinced what that's achieving. I've always had my doubts about their play counter. Most of my songs get 1-200 plays which I've built up over time, so that's probably about right. But two of my recent efforts suddenly shot up into four figures for no obvious reason - I never buy plays and I don't think they were any better than any of my other songs. Those numbers seem unreal to me, though I could be wrong (hopefully!).

As has been pointed out already, I can replace my tracks at any time without losing plays. So said, you can do this on some of the other free services.

As Elvis has pointed out, AudioMack is good, though not as well frequented as SC. The interface is certainly easier and prettier. I've used this for my collaborations.

For me SC is really just a place to host my songs before I commit final mixes to my albums which I host elsewhere.

  • Thank you, @ChrisPrice - I have the Artist and only two of my songs have about 180-205 plays, the others, 1-8 plays. I keep getting a text to upgrade to Artist Pro, but I don't think I am, I think it's a waste of money trying to get exposure on SC.

I'm getting more exposure on YouTube where it's free.

    I appreciate your feedback.

  • I'm like Chris. I really just use SoundCloud as a place to park songs for feedback at a place like this. At some point, I deem the songs finished and, if I like them enough, put them out on the streaming services like Spotify either as part of an album or as a single. I do that because some of my extended family like to hear them and they all have Spotify, while none use SoundCloud. I could probably give up SoundCloud since I learned how to host my songs at my own website.

  • Mine go on YouTube eventually and promotion . I just park them on what ever server , it really doesn’t matter to me
