Unsure I can love again

Unsure

[Intro]
I saw the lipstick on his collar.
knew at once I’d been betrayed.
He lied but his eyes told me the truth.
He let more than his eyes stray.
verse
Once a heart has been broken.
it’s never the same again.
It’s careful and it’s cautious.
Even when it comes to friends.
[pre chorus]
I question kindness.
I fear being used.
my hearts’ still fragile
from being abused.
[chorus]
I’m broken, I’m bruised
I’m bleeding inside.
I’m unsure I can love again.
I’m unsure, unsure I can love again.
I’m unsure I can love again.
[verse]
The truth has left me shaken.
He cheated with my best friend.
If he’s done it once I know
he’s bound to do it again.
Pre chorus
I question kindness.
I fear being used.
My hearts still fragile
from being abused.
[chorus]
I’m broken, I’m bruised,
I'm bleeding inside.
I’m unsure I can love again.
I’m unsure, unsure I can love again.
I’m unsure I can love again.
[Instrumental break]
[verse]
Once a heart has been broken.
It’s never the same again.
It’s careful and it’s cautious
even when it comes to friends.
[pre chorus]
I question kindness.
I fear being used.
My hearts still fragile
from being abused.
[chorus]
I’m broken I’m bruised
I’m bleeding inside.
I’m unsure I can love again.
I’m unsure, unsure I can love again.
I’m unsure I can love again.
[outro]
Even if I were to fall for a guy;
It would be in the back of my mind.
If given the chance would he cheat on me?
If some sweet thing were to catch his eye.

  • I like this Carroll. Feels very poignant.

And the lift from pre into chorus seems very strong.

I'd be tempted to make what's currently the Intro into v1, and lose the current v1 - I don't think that's as good as the Intro.

  • @carroll - I think I agree with Owen.. verse 1 isn't really that strong. you can actually remove that from wherever it appears and still not lose the song.. or change the second one..

  • Great idea thanks guys!
  • MAYBE have the first verse read like this

I saw the lipstick on his collar

    knew I’d been betrayed

as I asked him to explain it

I became afraid, afraid of what was real and the shame ,

cause once a heart gets broken it's never the same
