A day in 2023

Hi all,
I am new to this forum and thought it may be good a good way to start my contribution here by posting a new song. The song is orchestral instrumental which is a new genre to me but I wanted to test it. Any feedback is highly appreciated. :)
Thanks!

Welcome to TSF!
There's a strong contrast in sound between the synth and the orchestral instruments. Maybe that's deliberate, but I feel like it would seem more part of the ensemble with some reverb, or something to make it sound like it's in the room with the other instruments.
I particularly like the orchestral backing. That feels quite rich and a lovely counterpoint. The melody itself feels a little simple and repetitive for me, though many classical compositions re-iterate a melody over and over.
However, I do not write orchestral music, so please take my comments with an appropriate dose of salt!

Hi @RainyDayMan and thank you for your constructive feedback! Yes, regarding the electric piano I have been on and off about it, if I should have it or not, so I really understand your comment here. My idea was to have the electric piano as something different complementing the more traditional orchestra but maybe I should reconsider this (again) 😊
Again, thanks for taking the time to listen and give me your feedback!

It's a nice melody. would sound good with just an acoustic guitar and vocals...i know you said you're just testing the orchestra thing out, but i immediately heard it as a simple folk-y type deal.
I agree with RDM about the contrast. the lead sounds early 90s midi (not bad in and of itself) compared to the orchestral parts (is that bbc orchestra?). just feels disconnected. maybe more reverb on the e-piano to make it sit better with the strings?
interested to hear any changes you make so please post any revisions!
i also do not write orchestral music so please take my comments with salt as well :)

Overall, it sounds like you have the beginnings a good song. I generally agree with the comments from RDM and jrandolph. Hopefully you decide to develop this one more and add some additional instruments. I think you're on the right track. Nice work so far!
